The story so far ...

The Ingredients

Many hands ...
Built on history ...
As part of the research that is helping to create a business case study for the project, we reached out to the team at Cupar Heritage to discover more on the history of the site …
What is on the menu?
Crucial to the Food Station’s development and success is that the ideas on what it might be are rooted in evidence-based community engagement, collaboration and research.
The project is led by Cupar Development Trust and it is their Community Action Plan (2023) and Local Place Plan (2024) that are helping to shape the Food Station project.
Nothing is set in stone but it is essential that the project is self-funding. To that end, it must be commercially viable to deliver community-benefit.
Some of the ideas that are resulting from consultation and the Business Case Study include:
- An Artisanal Food & Drink Hall showcasing local and regional producers.
- A Fife Whisky Heritage Centre telling the story from the ‘home of whisky’.
- Commercial Kitchen supporting multi-generational training and development.
- Event Spaces for hire to businesses and organisations
In building a commercially sustainable project, the Trust will be able to deliver tangible community-benefits:
- A new home for a ‘next generation’ Cupar Foodbank
- An expanded Cupar Community Larder to help alleviate food insecurity.
- A GP Referral Scheme for the Prescription of Fresh Fruit and Veg.
- Provision of Hospitality & Catering Training.
- Subsidised event / meeting spaces for community groups.
- Exploring a Banking Hub (should the last bank in town close).
- A Re-use Workshop to recycle bikes, mobility scooters and more.
